SMRC Clinic
Clinic History

In the 1990s in Saskatchewan, Chiropractors and Physical Therapist tended to not work together. The professions were competitors and had limited understanding of each other’s professions.

Brian Thompson (PT) and Dale Mierau (DC), both recognized that there was potential to improve patient care by combining the skill sets of different professions into one treatment facility.

In 1996 they took the bold step to commit to working together and learning from each other to provide new approach to patient care. They worked co-operatively putting aside professional bias and focused on skill sets each had to offer the towards treatment and prevention of orthopedic injuries and conditions.

Clients and physicians no longer had to choose between “Physio or Chiro”. At SMRC the client received the care that best suited their needs; Chiropractic, Physical Therapy or a combination of both. SMRC evolved to include exercise therapy, acupuncture, psychology services and medical consultants.

After a period of learning and co-operation the treatment team experienced improved results , greater professional satisfaction and more importantly improved client satisfaction. This was the beginning of a new era of cooperation between the Chiropractic and Physical Therapy professions.

SMRC has continued to develop this co-operative multidisciplinary approach and has attracted and maintained professional, like-minded staff with many years of experience.

SMRC continues to thrive with this multidisciplinary treatment approach.
